VEX Wiring

It will happen to many, a connector pin will break off, you will want to extend a wire from some place on your robot to the controller.  On this page you will find some links to various connectors and tools which can help you either repair a connector by crimping/soldering on a new set of pins or extending a cable.  There are many source where you can get the material to do this, we have found that Pololu Robotics and Electronics is a good source for the material.

Tools and Material to fix wiring

  • Crimp Tool – you will need a tool able to crimp 16 -28 AWG wire and pins for example: Pololu Item #1928
  • Wire Stripper – you will need a wire stripping tool for 20 – 28 AWG wire for example: Pololu Item # 1923
  • Male Crimp Pins 0.1″ – you will need to correct pin for 22 -28 AWG wire and fitting the controller: Pololu Item #1931
  • Female Crimp Pins 0.1″ – you will need to correct pin for 22 -28 AWG wire: Pololu Item #1930
  • Crimp Connector Housings for 0.1″ connector – 1 X 2 (2 pin housing) both Female and Male: Pololu Item #1901
  • Crimp Connector Housings for 0.1″ connector – 1 X 3 (3 pin housing) both Female and Male: Pololu Item #1902
  • Extension wire bulk 22AWG – to make extensions for motors and motor controllers: Servo City Item #SW22JT
