Robot Camps

We are excited to be offering again this summer a number of Robotics Camps using VEX IQ Robotics system. We are offering two camps – one sponsored by Seattle Preparatory School and for middle schoolers  grades 6 – 9 which is a half day, and a full day Camp at Coe Elementary School for grades 4 – 7.   Camps are a good mix between learning and exploring and summer fun and occasional movies on topics we are working on thrown in.  You may download a flyer here (PDF).

Registration / Cancellation Policy

All registrations are final and a camper is not registered until payment has been received in full, registrations cancelled prior to May 30th will be full refunded.  Registrations cancelled between June 1st and July 1st will be 50% refunded, cancellations after July 1st will not be refunded.

Scholarships

Students currently enrolled in Coe Elementary School or Our Lady of Fatima may apply for 50% or full scholarship if so needed for the camp on July 11 – 15th.

Camp Offerings for Summer 2016

VEX IQ Robotics Camp   (4th – 7th Grade)

When: Monday July 11th – Friday July 15th – 9:00am – 3:00pm  Cost: $250.00

Where: Coe Elementary School

Do you think you can solve a highly interactive robotics game? Would you like to create an effective scoring robot both using tele-operated mode and autonomous mode using the VEX IQ Design system? If you answered yes to those questions, this is the camp for you! Students will learn how to design effective robots, overcome design challenges, and effectively use motors, gears and sensors in a winning combination to create a robot. On the last day of camp, participants will run their robots in a real competition in front of friends and family! VEX IQ robotics design system will be used to learn the art of engineering, science and programming.
Students are expected to bring their own snacks and lunch.

VEX IQ Robotics Camp for Middle Schoolers  (6th – 8th Grade)

When: Tuesday July 5th – Friday July 8th – 9:00am – 12:00pm  Cost: $165.00

Where: Seattle Preparatory School

VRC Robot Design using Inventor Pro 2016 (10th-12th)

When: Tuesday Aug 17th – Friday Aug 19th – 1:00pm – 4:00pm  Cost: $135.00

Where: Seattle Preparatory School

This 3-day class will focus on the design process using AutoCAD Inventor 2016 to take a conceptual idea to the prototyping stage. The emphasis will be on the effective design of a competitive robot for the VEX 2016-2017 competition season. Students will learn how to model subsystems in 3-D and then verify parts of their design by constructing the design using the VEX EDR systems. This class is intended for 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students who plan to be a part of the Seattle Prep VEX Robotics teams during the upcoming school year.

VRC Robotics-Intro to VEX Robotics (9th grade only)

When: Tuesday Aug 17th – Friday Aug 19th – 9:00am – 12:00pm  Cost: $135.00

Where: Seattle Preparatory School

This 3-day class is highly recommended for 9th grade students interested in joining the VEX Robotics team this upcoming school year. The class will focus on teaching the basic skills needed to become part of the Seattle Prep VEX Robotics team and focuses on understanding the design process and the various parts/systems available within the VEX EDR system. Students will use the 2016-2017 VEX EDR game as a basis for skill development. This class will predominantly focus on the mechanical engineering skills needed to design and build successful, competitive robots.
